Clifton Lewis (in black at the foot of the stairs,) who asked Mr. Wright to design a house for her family, greets foreign graduate students that she invited from FSU and FAMU to visit Lewis Spring House in the 1960s.
Clifton and her husband, George Lewis II, loved sharing their home and hoped for it to become a learning institute and to be used for other public and private functions in the future.
After George's death in 1996, Clifton, family members and friends formed Spring House Institute to carry out their lifelong dreams.
